I saw a little flock of yellow-clad kids on excursion at the airport today and was reminded of my kindergarten trip to the zoo with my crush. Kindergarten was so sweet.
Holy Grace had a pretty kinky uniform, white sailor top with blue trimmings and a sewn-on tie, attached to a short blue pleated skirt. The top was quite transparent [especially after many washings], and my good friend Grace and I used to play 'press the button'. Not with each other; we attacked other girls.
Then I didn't 'friend' Grace anymore after my in-school birthday party [I wore a bright green frock with a little pouch attached to it, haha.]. Cos my dad gave her all the mini sausages on his cocktail, and I liked the mini sausages. Talk about being childish.
I remember insisting on wearing stockings to school on my first day. White stockings with my black shiny patent Mary Janes. I threw a tantrum and in the end wore white stockings beneath white socks and the Holy Grace blue&white velcro shoes.
And I had a million little boyfriends. Okay, I flirted with them. HAHA. I'd bring my little toy cars to school and if I liked a guy I'd give him a car. I don't think I gave away many tho.
My favourite boyfriend was Shawn. Shawn Lee, this bald little skinny fink with swim goggles tanline on his face, and he owned a pilot's cap which he wore during our class excursion to the zoo. The teacher made everyone pair up, and of cos I picked him as my partner. I made him sit next to me on the bus [and pissed him off cos he wanted to sit with the guys, haha], and I got to hold his hand.
I was the lead dancer for our graduation dance; I wore this skimmy triangular piece of cloth for my Chinese dance. And was sooo annoyed with this girl Ruth because she stole my role. I was supposed to do a joint dance with the guys [in their electric blue spandex tops with white bloomers], but was too tall for them and they gave her that role instead.
The fried rice at Holy Grace was damn good, and sugar swirl biscuits remind me of tea time there.
And I remember English lessons where we learnt to write the alphabet, and were given these white plastic cards that had a single alphabet cut out of black sandpaper on each. The left-handers were given different cards cos the arrows were drawn differently, and I pretended to be left-handed cos I wanted the special card. HAHA. Things got confusing when the teacher realised I was using my right hand to do cutting / colouring / eating etc.
I was bossy too. I can't remember what we were colouring, but I told the guy sitting next to me to use a certain colour instead because the colour he was using was wrong. And right after that I had a bleeding nose over my own picture. I was using a red crayon, and I thought the colours had jumped off it.
Happy days.
